In the heart of the Jardin, the Alpine Rock invites you to discover French and European biodiversity. Between the rock gardens, two mountain species live together: the European bighorn and the Alpine marmot. The former, one of the smallest sheep in Eurasia, climbs, jumps and sometimes stops, surprised when faced with amazed walkers. The latter is shyer and lives its day-to-day life in secrecy. If they are not in a deep sleep, you will have the chance to admire them in the middle of building their burrows, grass trapped between their teeth. You will need to be patient so as not to scare them – at the slightest danger “the guardians of the mountain” will stand up on their hind feet and let out a piercing whistle. Thanks to these creatures, the Alpine Rock will be well-protected!
